After working at a foal NICU in New Zealand, workcrew member Allie Rutledge knew saving an endangered foal’s life required improvisation, teamwork, and some sleepless perseverance. Read her account of bringing a foal back from the brink of certain death in the backcountry.

As the weeks march along from spring into summer, we grow accustomed to the ashy headed geese, or Canquenes, as they go about their daily affairs along the shoreline of the lake and the short-grass fields of the horse pastures. There’s squabbling…..
